Here’s What Customers are saying:

I was on the first day of a 4,000 mile road trip from Bend to Boston in my 2010 Land Rover LR4, when my alternator suddenly gave up. I was very fortunate this happened in Eugene Oregon, and not on some dark and desolate snowy road, which I had planned on driving that day.

My friend in Eugene said there was only one auto repair shop that he trusted in town, and to give Erik a call at City View Import. They had no room on their schedule for a Monday morning drop-in fix, but took me in anyway.

These guys are the real deal, they replaced the alternator with an OEM one with a 2 year warranty, (not the off-brand available through auto parts stores). I was out and fully fixed that same day, and the price was very fair. They also caught one of my drive belts was needing replaced, so they did that too.

I enjoyed a February road trip for 4,364 miles of overlanding and pure cross country Americana. Thank you City View Import!

This is THE ONLY VOLVO repair shop in Eugene (further?) I would definitely recommend. They are thorough, honest and considerate in analyzing and finding my car’s problems correctly!! Please consider this company as your repair place to take your vehicle. Thanks bunches!

LONG STORY SHORT: These guys are honest, educated and have the hearts of old-school mechanics. Erik owns the place so it’s nice when the person diagnosing your car’s problems and giving you a quote is the person actually doing the work. There’s no judgment if you have an old junker that means the world to you and a popper’s budget. I was initially quoted $2200+ at another shop and ended up having all necessary work done here for $1000. They did everything needed to make my car run perfectly and they had parts and proof to show me afterwards.

FULL EXPERIENCE: I came to this shop a couple years ago to get a pre-purchase inspection when I was car shopping. After about 20 minutes, Erik called me to say I shouldn’t buy the car based on condition and didn’t charge me a nickel. I appreciated the experience but haven’t needed car work in Eugene since then so hadn’t been back until...

My car windows had been fogging up excessively for a couple weeks and when a co-worker noticed coolant leaking from my 1992 Honda Accord, I took my car to the shop closest to where I work. The first place I went said my heater core was broken and that I needed to replace my radiator and all attached hoses as well (even though I just had the heater hose replaced in the last 6 months in Portland and had a feeling the radiator was relatively new...inherited the car a year ago from my grandma who took fab care of it and it only has 115,000 miles) Altogether, I was quoted $2200+

Totally shocked, I walked into City View Import and got to talk with Charlie for about 20 minutes. He looked up the national averages for work like this since I didn’t have my car with me (heater core replacement runs 800-1150 and “Shop 1” quoted me 1300..., radiator replacement runs 450-800 and “Shop A” quoted 850) and told me he’d guarantee City View Import could do the work for less. He was super friendly and wasn’t trying to push anything on me. He explained why replacing the heater core was crucial (turns out I had basically been inhaling coolant for a month..) and that they could give me a breakdown of the rest of the work that was needed so I could fix things as my budget allowed.

Brought my car in the following week and Erik’s estimate (before he inspected for official quote) was 1400. I gave them the go and told him to call me if it would be over 1500. I found out a ton of AWESOMELY helpful info thanks to Charlie and Erik:
—Didn’t need to replace my radiator...it is, in fact, pretty darn new and just had some loose connections at the bottom that he tightened up and VOILA, no more leak. They replaced two of the hoses (third NEW one was left to be) and Erik took the time to show me the old parts and why replacing them was a good idea.
—The shop sent me detailed photos of what it looked like to replace my heater core (it’s a brutal 8-hour job...80% of the cost is labor) which assured me that, yes, it’s pricey but they sure weren’t over-charging me.
—Brake fluid had never been replaced so they did a full flush and fill.

Got my car back quicker than anticipated and paid $1000 for ALL parts and labor. Yes, less than half of what the first shop quoted me and still 30% under what Erik thought it might take.

They gave the rest of my car a thorough inspection (tires, brakes, engine, etc) and handed me notes. They said there was a minor oil leak but something they’d keep an eye on whenever I came in for an oil change. They noticed some slight warping in my brake rotors but not enough to make driving unsafe not cause more damage elsewhere, and said it would be wisest and cheaper to replace those when I have to replace the brake pads (which is routine car work anyways, I realize I’m gunna have to put some money into this baby every once in a while). Definitely keeping my service here exclusively.

Wow! Your worries are over! Erik & Charlie know what’s up. They thoroughly took care of my clutch issue. I was traveling up I-5 & had even took my van to another shop. That shop scared the crap outa me telling me I might not even make my destination. City View Imports went above & beyond, diagnosing & not just replacing parts, but loving on my van. Erik reassured me that my van was still a strong runner& he was right! Thanks guys!

Both Charlie and Eric are absolutely awesome. I came to them after feeling very disrespected from a business I had frequented for years.. They listened to me and took the time to explain to me the whys and hows of what they needed to do. They have even given my husband and I rides in a pinch. On top of being stellar mechanics, they are clearly good, honest, and interesting humans. We trust them 100% and are so Thankful for their services.

Not Just Volvo repair! Although a Volvo expert, Eric is just an expert mechanic. My boss takes his Toyota there, I take my Subaru there. The guy is just super fair and reasonable and a straight shooter. My car needed a new radiator and an oil change and I dropped it off and he called and was done with it a couple hours later. Have you ever left the mechanics with a smile on your face? If you’ve ever had a bad experience with a mechanic or overpaid and know the value of a super nice, fair, awesome mechanic then make these guys your shop. As long as I live in Eugene, these guys will be my shop. I couldn’t recommend them more.
